At Harvest Farm, 46 men graduated from the New Life Program (NLP) and are going into the world as productive, self-sufficient citizens. Now they have water all year round and many in the community no longer have to leave their homes in search of work. It is a compelling portrait of a real-life organic farm, and it did a great job of dispelling any romantic notions I had about obtaining a few goats or lambs. In just three years they greened 800 hectares of dryland and recharged the groundwater. The following story tells how 420 farm families in southern India worked with scientists to harvest rainwater.
